No, you do not. You do not need to worry about any AUDIO Cu system bogging down your internet network because it uses the power lines to move the audio rather than expensive cumbersome copper speaker wires and an AVR. AUDIO Cu will only require the internet when you do an app and system update.
Yes, you need both an AUDIO Cu transmitter (TX) unit and receiver (RX) units to make your system function. For example, let’s use a 5.1 home audio theater system to plan out what you will need.
· 1 AUDIO Cu TX unit per home audio theater system = 1 AUDIO Cu TX unit
· 1 AUDIO Cu RX unit (per speaker or subwoofer) x 6 (5 speakers and 1 subwoofer) = 6 AUDIO Cu RX units
So, in total for a 5.1 system, you will have one (1) AUDIO Cu TX unit, and six (6) AUDIO Cu RX units as each speaker or subwoofer requires their own. Yes, AUDIO Cu will work with any current wired home audio theater speakers. You can have all completely different brands and models of speakers and it doesn’t matter. You could have a 7.1 system that is made up of two (2) x Klipsch speakers, two (2) x Samsung speakers, one (1) x Sony speaker, two (2) x Bose speakers, and one (1) x Cerwin Vega subwoofer…works perfectly! This allows you to have the flexibility to mix and match whatever speakers and subwoofers you desire to achieve the perfect sound for your taste.

The AUDIO Cu solution connects to the input on the back of your TV or display labeled “HDMI-ARC” or “HDMI-eARC.” Most likely any TV or display made after 2009 has either of these inputs. All you have to do is take the included HDMI cord and plug it into the AUDIO Cu transmitter (TX) unit HDMI input, then plug the other end of the HDMI cord into the back of your TV “HDMI-ARC” or “HDMI-eARC” input, and then plug the TX unit into a power outlet. It’s that simple! From there on out you can use the included mobile app to setup and manage all of your home audio theater systems.
Each speaker you wish to be added to your system must have an AUDIO Cu receiver (RX) unit. The RX unit will plug into a power outlet and then will plug into the positive (red) and negative (black) speaker inputs on the back of the speaker. Once each speaker is plugged into an RX unit, you can begin the intuitive and user-friendly setup via the mobile app.
Each AUDIO Cu receiver (RX) for each speaker is sixty-five (65) watts. Each AUDIO Cu RX for each subwoofer is passive since it utilizes its own built-in amplifier.
